Naoko Matsubara at the Art Gallery of Burlington, Ontario

Last night we attended a most interesting exhibition at the Art Gallery of Burlington where the work of three woodcut artists is on display. Tom Hammick, Donna Ibing and Naoko Matsubara each have work in the show. Naoko created an incredible ‘ribbon’ of paper with cutouts that hangs from the ceiling and casts a subtle shadow across the floor of the gallery. The exhibition features some of her more recent abstract woodcuts including the beautiful ‘Tagasode’ that was the centrepiece of our exhibition for her last year. Viewing all three artists’ work allows you to see the variety that the woodcut medium allows. The exhibition continues until April 2.
