On the Phone (2020)

“This series of oil paintings started during covid. Argentina had one of the longest lockdowns, I had quit my job and began this series in my apartment which I shared with my partner at the time. Watching him work endlessly on his phone and being unable to leave the floor got me fixated on how we were interacting with each other, our unawareness of our surroundings and the high presence on social media. This is how the series came to be a representation of how we connect -or disconnect- with each other as humans.

The pieces of meat that appear reference my previous works on rotting meat and the flies as a metaphor for time passing by while we are unaware. Dying a little bit everyday.”

Oleiros (2022)

This series portrays, through brushstrokes and colours, the emotional memory (the smell/scent, movement, feelings) I experienced when visiting or living in these places. Used to moving around since I was really small, my natural state of living is transitory, always in travel/migration. While the city agitates me, Nature ignites my creativity and it’s where I’m at in my most meditative state.

Oleiros was inspired by the city that has this name, located in the northern west part of Spain, Galicia.
