LEGIT NAME: Douglas

AKA: Donut. Fucking nutcase. Others.

AGE: 56

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN THE PUNK SCENE, WHAT YEAR? I was always involved. My parents were activists. Mom hung with rock stars. Best friends with Hendrix etc. We were counterculture incarnate. I was backstage with huge rock stars, it was normal. I guess Blondie and Devo but it really hit me with Bad Brains. I was touring with all my heroes by late 1983. I saw shithead in an army helmet on cable access from my farm in Ladysmith at said “That’s where it’s at”. Fast forward and he's a pal who I've played tons of shows with.. I auditioned for DOA in 2007 I think it was. Joey took one look at Rampage and I and I think foresaw an element of unbridled debauchery. BEST PUNK MEMORY? Plaza parties. Getting guns pulled on us a lot in California. Beating up nazis who picked fights.. A few years of a dangerous adventure daily. We were more the criminal element of punks.''Rat music for Rat People'' stuff. Lotta shocking going on. Never on regular people. KKK clubhouses etc. we went looking for trouble. Still do. I don’t have a house in kits to fall back on. I’m punk before punk because I’m SIOUX. We scalped Custer. Escaped wounded knee. It’s my default. Totally fuck authority. HAS PUNK CHANGED MUCH SINCE THE 80'S? , IF SO HOW? It’s a fashion statement. Same as metal. I was punk when it was called “hey ya little fag”. Which, if I wrote on Facebook, I'd get a 30 day ban, BUT I can open up a page calling the continuing Indigenous IS PUNK HERE TO STAY? Counterculture is. And it sure as fuck ain’t ''Princess of Punk'' on Leno. No offence to “princesses of punk” but Bad Brains is punk. NWA was punk. Public Enemy. D.O.A. It’s fuck you and 100% no kissing babies for the music biz machine. Get mad. There’s neo nazis rolling around. And I’m gonna sell PERFUME? nope. Joe Strummer told us pretty much everything we need to know about being punk. I don't see many rich counterculture role models these days. Like Brando or Hepburn. They were punks. Punk is also about being untamable and resourceful.
