  • Overview
Peter is a pianist who became a lawyer, after that a television director before he began his journey into paint. Peter says all of his previous pursuits, his “past lives” rather, informs his work as an artist, embodying in them an inherent contradiction. Emerging from conflict, his work sizzles with effervescent energy fighting any attempts at control resulting in a certain tension between the grid he scores on every surface and the chaotic nature of his abstractive process.

Abbozzo Gallery is proud to feature artist Peter Burega’s abstracted landscapes as part of Pride Toronto’s Affiliate events. Working from photo reference, Burega employs gestural mark making to blend documentation of the real world with his own physically exercised psychology. The result is striking abstracted vistas on canvas and panel.

For the duration of Pride Month, we are asking for your help to fundraise for a charity we deeply believe in, Rainbow Railroad, who assist LGBTQI+ persons in danger. In addition to your donations, Abbozzo Gallery and Peter Burega will be donating 10% of the proceeds from Peter Burega’s Southern Crossing. Click here to access our fundraiser page.
