If you could talk to the microcosm, what would you ask it? “Living Algae Cyborg” is an interactive installation that offers a glimpse into a future where humans, machines and nature learn to communicate and collaborate with each other.
Audiences can ask questions of the algae microorganisms living in the installation via an artificial intelligence interface. The algae will answer in different combinations of air bubbles brewing within the work. The bubbles consist of carbon dioxide from the breath of surrounding spectators, which algae uses as food, transforming it into fresh oxygen throughout the night.. The project explores how artificial intelligence could foster communication between species, offering an interactive experience where audiences are encouraged to rethink their relationship with the environment, while bridging the distance between human and non-humans, such as algae. The project acts as a catalyst for dialogue about cultural values and societal issues that could advance our understanding of humanity. Most importantly, it aims to reduce climate anxiety and gives hope for a better future by fostering stronger and healthier communities.
