Exhibition Text
This exhibition strives to capture the feelings we all share around the holiday season. Each room, is designed to visually and contextually immerse you in a specific emotion.
In the main gallery you’re surrounded by warm colours and even warmer feelings. Scenes of setting suns, cozy walks in the snow, red lights glimmering in the cold street corners, and festive red and green charged abstracts. Now more than ever, we encourage you to strike a conversation and engage, as this room is dedicated to celebration and the sense of community. The holidays are here and your work laptop is closed, so embrace this moment, which is as good as the people you share it with.
In the feature gallery we encounter the inevitable cold that we physically feel as we sink into the wintertime. Trees have shed their extra layers of leaves as we bundle up and put on even a few more. Surrounded by the shades of cool blue and snowy landscapes you can feel the temperature dropping right inside these gallery walls.
In the narrow space of the Project Room, you encounter the feeling of the holiday blues. All it takes is for the sun to set at 4pm and the temperature to drop below zero, and suddenly you need more than a blanket to stay warm. With its lonesome figures and landscsapes, this room explores themes of solitude.
The separation of the rooms allows the viewer to fully submerge into each feeling, and their togetherness allows you to go through all the holiday time emotions in one exhibition.
