12:06 AM: One Artist's Response to the A.I. 'Crisis'
Richard A. Jacobson 12 Sep - 7 Oct 2023 Richard A. Jacobson presents a new collection of work inspired by artificial intelligence and the legend of Robert Johnson - the famed guitarist who was rumored to have sold his soul to the devil, after a chance encounter at a crossroads, in exchange for supernatural playing ability. 12:06 AM, One Artist’s Response to the A.I. 'Crisis’ reimagines this legend, positioning the artist as Johnson and A.I. as the trade. Is the use of A.I. stripping artists of their very soul? Yet the very existence of an art show suggests hope. Read more -

Featured are paintings and sculptures that speak to you silently in the way a familiar friend calls out with a wordless glance; all that is given and all that is needed is the outward expression of internal thought – in the universal language of art. Artists included are Lola Erhart, Delfina Gómez Marestaing, Celia Lees, Fabiana Salomao, Steven K. Tucker, and David Wilstermann, all exhibiting for the first time with Abbozzo Gallery.

Duane Nickerson 2 Dec 2022 - 14 Jan 2023 Nickerson’s work in his current exhibition is rooted in the tradition of landscape painting, a long and varied practice that extends to the dawn of human civilization and is featured prominently in the art making tradition of Canada. The uninhabited landscape is a key facet of Canadian identity, and it is becoming a prominent symbol for the global environmental movement. Our growing awareness that the human species faces hard limits to its growth and consumption makes Nickerson’s detailed paintings of tree trunks, roots and leaves poignant reminders of the fragility of life.
